The one rule

An item appears publicly only when it is approved and the person gave display consent. That lives in a single query in the server, so every surface — widget, API, dashboard preview — agrees about what is public. The widget never decides it, which means no amount of client-side tampering changes what an embed can show.

Two ways

Use the widget. One script tag, Shadow DOM, no CSS conflicts, ~9 KB. It handles pagination, video posters, avatars and responsive columns.

Or read the API and render it yourself, if you have a design system that matters more than the setup time. GET /api/public/v1/widgets/{id}/ returns the same allowlisted payload the widget consumes — you are not on a lesser path.
